This festival was given to two sequels: Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 and Akshay Kumar's OMG 2. In the sense that Gadar 2 was coming with an impressive pedigree that was expected to be a better film.

However, many analysts believed that Akshay's fame could provide an extra boost to OMG 2 too. The verdict is complete and utterly out and it's a massive victory to Gadar 2.

The signs were there from the moment advance bookings opened. Gadar 2 has sold tickets worth about 17.60 crore on day one which is the third highest for a Hindi film during the post-pandemic time.

Comparatively, OMG 2 sold tickets that cost 3.30 crore. 3.30 crore. The huge difference continued through the opening day.

Gadar 2 started with more shows that were packed to capacity and had more than double the attendance in theaters opposed with OMG 2.

Experts in the field say that Gadar 2 is expected to earn a net of around 40 crore in India that would put it among the top 10 openers of all time in Bollywood.

However, OMG 2 may struggle to make double-digit numbers and could earn around the range of Rs 8-9 crore.

OMG 2 has received better reviews compared to Gadar 2, with critics applauding the film's sensibility and message. Gadar 2 also has been praised by critics,

But has been criticized for its excessive tone and plot flaws to a certain extent. In general positive reviews can lead to an improvement in the film's collections through reviews and word-of mouth.

But, trade insiders suggest that it could be a challenge to achieve this for OMG 2 to get a positive review. Analyst for trade Atul Mohan told DNA,

"Because of how good Gadar 2 did, many multiplex chains are preparing to increase its shows as well as cut down on the shows on OMG 2 starting today. 

The potential for growth is less. This is a typical process that occurs when producers feel that a certain film has a better chance of generating higher returns."
